This event brings together current students, former student activists in the Anti-Apartheid Movement, and academics to discuss organising on university campuses during the anti-apartheid era, and today.
Participants will discuss anti-apartheid campaigns and what they looked like, comparing these to student campaigns on campus today, through a cross-generational exchange of knowledge. Focusing on how universities have changed, participants will examine the way in which the neoliberal university deals with protest, the challenges this presents for students today and what lessons can be learned from past student organising
